Hi guys, I need some assistance.
I'm using a Lenovo y50 and followed all the instructions... But under heavy use, my battery drains slowly until at 40% I can't play any games anymore because my FPS drops to 10 in most games (like Overwatch). My old charger broke, so I bought a cheap one from Amazon that only provides 65 Watts (the original was 135W). Could this be the issue? Is my setup causing the problem? Also, I don't see any problems while browsing on Windows.

If this setup is a standard Y50 equipped with an i7 quad core and an Nvidia 860M, running a laptop that uses a 45W CPU and 45W GPU on a 65W power supply seems surprising. It managed to function without the adapter overheating or causing damage. The AC power from a charger often becomes dirty and unstable near its rated capacity. It's possible the battery was handling the voltage fluctuations, which likely stressed it more than the other components.

Not powering your computer properly is likely the problem. Get a fresh charger, it should resolve the issue.

Already in progress...the unusual thing is that after I tried to revert everything, like under-volting my CPU and overclocking the GPU, the issue still persists...I had been using this Charger for three months without any problems, even while gaming...is there a chance I damaged something? When I used throttle stop and pushed my laptop to its limit the other day it just shut down with a loud noise...after a couple of minutes of cooldown everything seemed to work again...Now that I use a smaller multiplier on Throttle Stop the system runs fine, temperatures are normal, but the power supply isn't keeping up...

it's odd it took three months to respond. it might be because you pushed it too hard for that long, and it gave up. i'm leaning toward that possibility until you get the updated version.

On Amazon the description mentions the charger supports the Y50...and yes I have the exact specifications you mentioned...so what caused the sudden issues? I'm not a native speaker, so a simpler explanation would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

First replacement, 65 W:
https://www.amazon.de/vhbw-Notebook-Netz...0+netzteil

Newly bought charger, arriving sometime this week:
https://www.amazon.de/Netzteil-Lenovo-Y5...0+netzteil

Do you think the problems will disappear after that? Can I still use the laptop now for browsing and watching movies?

The 45W TDP on your CPU and GPU is the suggested cooling level. These parts consume less than 45W when under heavy load. While gaming, this still exceeds the 65W power supply output. Revisiting your initial comment suggests the laptop was drawing more power from the AC adapter than it should have. Power adapters are typically built to operate around 80% of their rated power for extended use; running them at full capacity can lead to early failure. The 135W adapter should resolve these issues, unless the laptop itself was damaged by the 65W unit. You should be fine for browsing and watching movies, provided you don’t engage the GPU. If it does, the GPU will likely draw only about 55-60 Watts, averaging around 20-25 Watts.
