Ensure your profile is online or you’ve logged into a Microsoft account. This keeps your license linked to that account. After upgrading, just log in again and the license should transfer—though a restart may be needed for full activation. This worked for me during several upgrades. If you’re using Windows 10, consider installing Windows 10 on the new machine before moving to 11, since the key codes differ. Upgrades are free, but I’m not certain the old Windows 10 key will be recognized in a fresh Windows 11 install; that might not be accurate.
It helped me once when I recently set up Windows 11 on my existing system. However, that was more than a year ago, so I can't confirm they haven't made any changes afterward.
Windows ties your board to the OS copy by writing some info to the board's BIOS during install as a signature it looks for each time the OS boots, that's why you can swap CPU's, GPU's and so on. Windows still boots with all that BUT if you swap the board..... It's a more complicated matter. No, normally it will not recognize the old Win 10 key if doing a fresh (From Scratch) install of Win 11, the key that install needs will be different but MS is also good about saying "It's OK man" and activating it anyway as long as the old key itself is a valid key AND already tied to your existing account. Personally, I can't guarantee 100% it will work but chances are it will work out for you.
