Changing the operating system from HDD to SSD
Changing the operating system from HDD to SSD
I have all the parts except my SSD. I can’t wait to get the system up and running. Would it be simple to switch to my SSD once I have one, or would it be a hassle that’s better left undone?
You can start using your HDD right away, but keep in mind you'd prefer a fresh Windows setup once the SSD arrives. Avoid cloning or moving the operating system—new drives perform better, particularly with SSDs, when installed cleanly. Remember to back up important files like documents and photos beforehand.
It's fine because it's the drive. You're just transferring the data, but if I had a new computer—even without a new drive—I'd perform a clean install @Hatcher12. Just remember to turn on over provisioning.
