I recently purchased an i7 9700K while my previous CPU was an i5 9600. During startup, I can reach the BIOS but after that it freezes. Swapping the RAM helped everything function properly. My motherboard is a Z370e from ASUS and I have a 750-watt power supply.

I didn’t realize this would be an issue because my previous CPU is also from the 9th generation. I should note that I managed to boot a few times before, but as soon as I entered the password it would freeze again. I’ll keep trying in any way possible.

Reset CMOS whenever you change processors. Do it all the time. Reset CMOS.

You should disconnect the CMOS cable before powering on the PC. This helps avoid damaging your motherboard.

So is that cable a switch at the end? The jumpers should be "open" for normal operation. So if it's a constant short, then remove the cable. If the switch is bad remove the cable.
