Changing my BIOS to allow AMD SAM succeeds initially, but it doesn’t start properly afterward.
I tried this after a completely new BIOS setup, making sure all settings were correct. It started working smoothly in Windows, and the sfc /scannow scan found no issues. I’ll need to check if this resolves the problem. I also enabled Hibernate, which was previously disabled. It’s currently running, but it might change when I power it off again. I noticed my GPU is only using PCIe x8, even though the BIOS says it should be x16. Could that be related to the NVMe drives?
It remains at PCIe x8 4.0, which appears standard. According to TechpowerUp, the card supports a PCIe 4.0 x8 Bus interface (Link). The GPU-Z tool confirms it’s using x8. Hope everything functions correctly so far.
Everything is not functioning anymore. I'm starting over again.
I also had a thought about this—I'll look into disabling XMP and follow up soon. It's odd if it's related to memory, since the motherboard compatibility list says it's fine for four sticks. I'll keep you updated. Appreciate your patience!
Four sticks indicate dual channel dual rank configuration. Zen2 isn't commonly described as having a powerful memory controller. The Corsair RAM comes in a 4-module pack, or was it a combination of 2x2 or 4x1? Are all modules from the same manufacturer?
It was two 2-packs, each containing an 8GB drive. All units are Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200Mhz with CL16 (16-18-18-36) and identical serial numbers. During the restart I noticed the EZDebug LED illuminating the Boot and VGA lights. The CPU turns on at the beginning but only briefly, suggesting no major problem. The RAM remains inactive. This is the current information. I plan to restart everything tomorrow and try disabling XMP. I’m puzzled as to why it worked in the first BIOS version but not later. Have a great evening.
Hello everyone, starting with 191x7, I’m sharing an update that XMP remains off and I haven’t encountered any Hiccups issues so far. I’ll follow up if I keep failing to restart after some waiting. Who knows what’s going on 😄. Overall, I’ve also shared my problem on MSI forums (link provided) and found at least a few people facing similar challenges—though none have offered a fix yet, and each has a different motherboard model. After talking to their support hotline twice, they suggested checking if all my firmwares—VBIOS, SSD/NVMe—are current. They asked me to verify through MSI Center software whether updates exist for my graphics card (MB version 1.0, VGA BIOS 104). Since no update was found, I rechecked and explained the situation to another tech support agent. He was unsure if my motherboards 3700X and 5500XT could run SAM, but I reassured him it is possible. Eventually, after providing all details, I submitted a web ticket to confirm with their team about the correct VBIOS version and to formally ask for written confirmation of what I mentioned. For fun, I’ll attach some screenshots from CPUZ, GPUZ, and MSI Center here. This is my update—hope you have a great weekend! Joker
