I checked the compatibility of your setup. Your LGA1700 motherboard supports an I7-14700K and DDR5 32GB RAM, while the R7 7700X CPU is compatible with most modern platforms. The AM5 motherboard should work fine as long as it matches your system's BIOS version.

It's not accurate to say 7700X has fewer cores; it actually offers more. The performance depends on various factors beyond core count. Ensure your CPU voltage stays within the recommended range to prevent any issues.

Keep your build, the 14700kf works well and you won’t need to cover the extra cost from power savings. There’s little incentive to invest in something that offers only a minor improvement. Make sure your BIOS is current so you have the latest power management updates. You should be okay until AM6 arrives, or even later.

Sidegrades are always a waste, even on a less desirable site. It's pointless to spend money. A solid discussion for someone starting out but not for the intended audience.

They've mentioned it before, right? For this generation at least. As long as you're using the latest system updates, you're in the clear. In terms of performance, you're not actually falling behind, whether it's gaming or productivity. Just keep in mind that depending on the game and settings, the CPU's role becomes less important for boosting performance. You mainly need to avoid a CPU bottleneck with your GPU, unless you already have the top-tier one. A 14700kf should hold up until the next couple of GPU generations. You're good as long as you don't need to use the whole system constantly, unless that's what you prefer.
