Changes to CPU clock settings are not effective.
Hello, I'm using an i5 6500 on a Z170-A PRO MSI motherboard. I've been attempting to overclock it but my speed adjustments aren't working. Please let me know if you need more details later. CPU-Z
The 6th generation non-K CPUs might achieve BCLK overclocking using the appropriate BIOS release. Earlier BIOS iterations prevented this capability. https://www.techspot.com/review/1108-int...rclocking/ A collection of BIOS versions for MSI boards, such as the Z170-A Pro, is available. https://play3r.net/news/overclock/overcl...-inside/6/
After the BIOS update, BCLK overclocking was restricted to 2%. In the previous BIOS version, you could boost BCLK by up to 50% or more on non-K CPUs. It was exciting back then before Intel stopped the trend.
You're welcome. It seems your bootable drive is recognized, but the file isn't showing up. Check if the installation media was inserted correctly and try restarting your system. If issues persist, verify the file path or contact support for further assistance.
Only the BCLK can be adjusted, you won't be able to make any changes even after a BIOS update
That is not a driver. It is a BIOS file. I am not familiar with your MSI motherboard. On my Asus board, you would need to copy that file to a USB drive, boot up and go into the BIOS and then there is an option there to flash this BIOS onto your computer. The name of the BIOS file is, E7971IMS.17T If you have never flashed your BIOS before, this might not be for you. Here are the instructions from your manual.
