I was checking my BIOS settings while trying to fix another issue, but now I face a bigger problem: My PC won’t start after I changed the clock frequency from 1600 to 3200. I thought it related to the RAM. When I power on, nothing appears on the screen and the mouse and keyboard stop working. The red light on my motherboard is also on. I’ve already tried clearing the CMOS battery by removing the battery for a few hours. Now I’m leaving the CMOS battery out overnight. Please help me.
FCLK must match half of your RAM speed, 3200 is too high and it won't exceed 1900-2000MHz in most situations.
The power supply was either on or off during the CMOS clearing process. Some boards require it to be either fully powered or disconnected. For a Ryzen system, the POST time after a CMOS reset can vary.
The power supply was off when I cleared the CMOS. I connected the pins for about 5-10 seconds and left the battery disconnected for 5 minutes. Then I attempted to start my PC, but the board light stayed on. I left the CMOS battery out overnight and plan to try booting again in about an hour.
It’s unlikely to harm your components if you followed the steps correctly. Changing the FCLK frequency and clearing CMOS can be risky if not done properly, but as long as you handled it carefully and swapped RAM in the right slots, the chances of damage are low. Always double-check connections and consider backing up data before making changes.
