I changed from a Ryzen 7 3700X and X570 Aorus Elite gaming Wi-Fi rev 2 due to frequent BSOD issues. After switching to an i9-11900K, Rog Strix Z590-e Gaming Wi-Fi, I experienced no more BSOD for about two days. Then a second BSOD occurred. Someone suggested removing two RAM modules, which I did. The issue lessened but returned. I repeated the process with another RAM, which improved things slightly, though it still caused freezing. Eventually, my PC would freeze, requiring me to press the power button until it restarted.

The reason for the switch was that the X570 PCIe slots weren’t sending any signal—just a long beep followed by two short ones. In another build with a 600W PSU and an 80+ Bronze power supply, the 3080 Ti booted normally. I also reinstalled Windows after replacing the motherboard, but it still froze when I added RAM, even with a working 1050 Ti. Disabling XMP didn’t help.

Event viewer displayed Kernel-Power while holding down the power button, and the Reliability Monitor logged a hardware error on the first freeze (10/17). Now it only shows “Windows wasn’t properly shut down.” I no longer get BSOD, but freezing still happens during installations or when booting Windows 10. It also occurs when loading games, though it works fine then.

As of October 24, 2022, I’m using four 8GB 2400MHz GSkill Trident Z RAM sticks (now fewer freezes), an i9-11900K, an EVGA RTX 3080 Ti, a 32GB 3200MHz RAM package, a 4x8 Corsair LPX and Vengeance Pro memory, plus a 2TB 970 EVO Plus NVMe SSD (not in use but connected), a 1TB WD Blue M.2 SSD, and an 850W 80+ Gold power supply.

No, I haven't performed any fresh installations or wiped the drives.

Have you experimented with a different power supply unit? It seems the connection might be faulty, restricting proper current flow.

I don’t have a compatible PSU for an i9 processor and a 3080 Ti. Would a 600W 80+ Bronze suffice for basic tasks? It’s unclear if that would help, but I left the system in BIOS and it didn’t freeze.

No, I didn't reuse the original RAM. I generated this response based on the information provided.

I'm working with my cousins' cousin right now (Trident Z 4x8 2400MHZ). Her PC always worked fine with her RAM and hasn't had any problems. My PC still freezes sometimes—this morning it froze while typing my password, loading apps, but finally stopped freezing so I could log in. It hasn't frozen yet. Edited October 25, 2022 by nighty_

No original parts from the initial AMD release are included, such as SSD or HDD drives.

The PSU, GPU, RAM, and all three SSDs (the 2.5 isn’t being used since it’s plugged into the wrong SATA port) came from the prior AMD build. The only additions are the ROG Strix Z590-E Gaming Wi-Fi and the i9 processor.

I'll take the wager that the RAM is broken or one of the SSDs isn't working.
