You're looking to upgrade your operating system to a different SSD. Since you can't simply swap drives, you'll need a larger capacity SSD. The current 64GB drive is likely limiting performance, especially for programs and games that access the C: drive without installation. Consider a 120GB or higher SSD to improve speed and stability. Make sure it's compatible with your system and check if a new OS is required after the upgrade. If budget allows, a slightly smaller SSD now could save costs later.

I'm trying to figure out which one you're referring to, but I don't have enough details. Could you clarify what you mean by "poopish one" and provide more context?

Surely Samsung SSDs include migration tools (like for the 830 and 840 models). You can effortlessly transfer all data from your old drive to the new one using these programs. This is helpful since I recommend a Samsung 850 EVO in any capacity you prefer. If it still comes with that software, you're in a great position!

How incredibly costly is that? Just thinking about it since I'm on a very limited budget.

850 evo's offer some of the most budget-friendly options available. The price varies based on storage needs—250 gigabytes costs 119. SSDs aren't cheap, so budget accordingly.

The 120GB model works fine, that's good news. Appreciate the tips!

I suggest the EVO drives. They include disk migration tools and deliver impressive speed for their cost.

I’d expect more than 120 if you’re into gaming. The jump from 64 to 120 isn’t much of a leap. If you land on 120, you’ll likely need more space soon again. A small SSD probably isn’t worth it anymore. But if you’re okay with 120, it’s a solid choice. You can even repurpose your old SSD—install programs yourself and store your files there, just in case.

It's actually just a hard drive meant for installing all the automatic updates I can't handle. I won't put in any games or anything similar, and the 120GB version is pricey enough already.
