Hi guys. I recently attempted to install a friend's graphics card on my PC that has been using integrated graphics for two years. It’s not working properly. The GPU is getting hot, but it doesn’t display anything until I connect my monitor cable to the motherboard—something unusual. I’m thinking about buying a new GPU and don’t know what steps to take if I run into issues again. Is there anything specific I need to do in the BIOS or system settings? (Windows 10)
Review your BIOS options, as enabling a specific setting might be required. An older Z170 I worked on last week needed this adjustment for the GPU to function properly. What hardware are you using?
You might need to access BIOS, turn off the built-in GPU or switch it to PCIe for graphics output.
