Your desktop icons have shifted and now lack consistent spacing. To adjust, look at the empty area beneath the bottom row of icons and modify the layout settings to increase the gap between them.

I believe the default spacing for desktop icons is -1125 units both horizontally and vertically. The icon spacing settings range from -480 to -2780. Open Windows + R to launch the command prompt, type regedit, and navigate to HKEY_CORRENT_USER/control panel/Desktop/WindowMetrics. In the right pane locate WindowMetrics, double-click IconSpacing to adjust it. Select a value between -480 (minimum) and -2780 (maximum).

Restart the device to apply the updates. This step is useful for testing.

I haven’t attempted it yet. Thank you for the details! However, I’m busy with college classes today and haven’t even opened my laptop. Still, I’ll let you know—I’m glad there’s a fix!

It appears the adjustment affects only the horizontal distance, not the vertical. You might be missing another registry component responsible for vertical positioning.

Everything seems off now. I didn’t save my registry settings, so I’m not sure what the previous configurations were. The positive part is I located the vertical adjustment, and if I can revert it to its original position, I should be able to fine-tune it as needed. Do you know which setting is causing them to be so far apart? I’ve already reset the spacing to its default, but they still appear too distant.
