You're experiencing strict NAT settings in your GTA V game. I've tried various configurations before, such as enabling port forwarding, UPnP, and allowing specific ports through Firewall Ports. Still, the NAT remains strict. Someone might have a better solution or tip for you.

Verify your carrier's NAT setup. Are you sharing a public IP address with other users? This is common in your region, but we're running out of available IPv4 addresses and IPv6 adoption is just beginning.

If your ISP uses LTE, CG-NAT is likely the issue. Many users report being unable to port forward on their LTE devices, making this a frequent problem for that connection type.

In LTE the issue is NAT64-CGN instead of CGNAT. NAT64-CGN includes CGNAT features, but it still presents comparable challenges.

Additional confusing abbreviations. I’ll attempt to recall them next time we discuss LTE. Irrelevant: I might ask for your help later. You’re free to decline when needed.

things seem to be getting more serious now, probably the ISP is the issue. after switching to the current provider, a game reported an error, but it worked fine before. thanks for the help. are there any other steps i can take besides reaching out to the ISP? they mentioned they’ll send someone to check my router.

Check some articles about your ISP and the PortForward process. The case was correct, but after running out of IPv4, they assigned a private IP instead of the WAN address.

It's always smart to do some research before switching ISPs. I experienced a bad one myself... "DSL LITE" was one of the worst. It means you'd share the same IP address with many others, which makes gaming nearly impossible. I canceled the contract right away and am now considering another ISP. One that gives me the same IP address for months and lets me change it whenever I want.

It might work with IPv6. Have you tried it? I’ve met folks who use it fully and report no problems, though I usually disable IPv6 first. It could still be a viable option, but your ISP might not be reliable.

Its legal because IPv4 has literally been exhausted and CG-NAT is required. There is no way around it. A few gaming services being affected does not trump getting a customer outright getting internet in general. Situations like these does not mean an ISP is trash.
