As the name actually is. I'm entering my assigned IP address, which isn't a blank one, and CFX is rejecting it because it doesn't look valid.

It seems your router settings need some adjustments. For IPv4 you'll need to enable port forwarding, and for IPv6 you should allow incoming connections on that address. Generally, even though IPv6 doesn't use NAT, the firewall might still block direct access unless configured otherwise. Otherwise, all LAN devices could become exposed to the internet.
