Change the admin BIOS password for Asus GL552VW
Change the admin BIOS password for Asus GL552VW
Hello everyone, thank you for your attention. I’m dealing with an ASUS GL552VW that’s blocked. I previously had an admin password, but changing it didn’t help. Now even that old password isn’t valid. The system is now locked, and I attempted to reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery for 20 minutes, but it still prompts for the BIOS password. I can’t access my work PC anymore. Could anyone suggest a solution? I’ve attached a screenshot of my device to my ASUS account to prove ownership. Thank you!
Consider the possibility of a switch on the motherboard. Review your motherboard's manual (ASUS offers an online archive)
Thank you for your message. I understand the situation. Occasionally, the jumper must be adjusted to the opposite "2 legs," but I couldn't locate a compatible one on my motherboard. I wasn't sure if I should admit it. According to what I read, the CMOS battery was suggested, though it didn't resolve the issue.
I won't have a jumper; I was talking about the chip legs. Can you at least start an operating system since there are instructions available?
You meant to ask about the phrase "the legs on the chip." It refers to a specific component in the BIOS setup. I can't view images, but you mentioned you need to reset the BIOS to remove the password. Also, you noted you unplugged the CMOS battery for 30 days.
It might not be feasible to accomplish what I mentioned earlier. I performed this task many years ago using a Dell laptop; I had to remove the board from the case and short out pins 1 and 2 on the BIOS chip. I suggest reaching out to ASUS to check if they can assist, though they might be reluctant to share details about bypassing security features.
I grasp the situation and watched the videos you mentioned. Thank you for your time. I reached out to ASUS, but they requested more than $100 and I’m looking for a more affordable option.
