I have a server with all SATA SSDs, but the controller says there are HDDs. Can I inform Windows about the SSDs so it can run Trim and other tasks?
For most SSDs, you can operate without TRIM for light home server tasks without significant problems. The drives will still be considered high-quality. You can disable TRIM manually, and there’s no need to worry unless you’re using hardware raid on the controller.
you notice i’m a bit clueless, so i’m treating the server like a high-tech gaming rig from 3050. keeping the SSDs would be perfect, but they’re kinda fragile right now. i’m also not using raid; the controller is the only way to connect drives to the system.
Would you like me to swap out the controller? If you're aiming for a cleaner look, that's likely your top choice. I wouldn't stress too much about trim—basic gaming tasks won't be affected much. How is the controller currently configured? Could you share some screenshots of its setup?
It doesn’t seem to be loading the settings page, but it’s functioning as expected on the motherboard. Just keep in mind you’re aware of its role, so you can ignore this issue.
what hardware is this? full system specs? I'd really just ignore the trim issue, it shouldnt matter for a basic gaming system
