Hello, I'm weighing the options between the 11400 with a gigabyte b560 DS3H and the 12400 with a b660 DS3H. This seems relevant for both choices. While looking into their specifications, I found a unboxed video that compared benchmarks with and without power limits, noting a 15-20% difference in clock speeds. However, I couldn't locate details on how to disable the power limit. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Avoid these boards; they’re really low quality. They restrict even an i5 to avoid overheating its voltage regulators. Switching to another board ensures you get full performance.

I'm curious to know if including inexpensive heatsinks in the VRM could improve performance.

According to the Gigabytes website, they already possess a VRM heatsink.

It seems there aren't enough units to manage the demand effectively. It still works, though it has a cap because they're already heavily used. In any case, it's worth investing the extra 10-20$ for a real quality board.

The b660 handles part of the power supply, while the 550 doesn’t cover that area.

The b660 mortar and tomahawk both offer solid performance.

Thanks, I might have to wait a bit longer since they're a bit outside my budget. I wasn't aware B660 DS3H was a poor choice; it's the only affordable model that includes Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, which I really need for connecting my headphones and mouse.

Looking at the vrn design of the b660 ds3h....I don't think you'll have a problem with unlimited power in an i5. These new 600bseries motherboards look totally overbuilt and I would probably even think an i7 would be fine on it as long as you had decent airflow. The top portion of the vrm is most likely for igp anyway. It's an 8 + 2 + 1.... Its probably more than enough.
