Change partition sizes in a VM's dynamic disk step by step.
I'm testing VMware Fusion 13.5 on an M1 Mac with a Windows Pro x64 ARM OS. I only have basic experience with virtualization tools like VirtualBox. My guest OS is running Win11 Pro, and I started with the default 64GB SSD allocation. Since I need more space, I expanded the virtual disk size in Fusion settings. Eventually, the software suggested moving the system partition from Windows to increase available space. However, Windows Disk Management doesn't allow that change, and Minitools Partition Wizard (free version) isn’t working with virtual disks. What should I do to resize the C: drive now? Thanks in advance!
The recovery partition could be relocated to the end of the free space using Windows Disk Management, provided the virtual machine doesn’t interfere.
Choose to remove the recovery partition or relocate it to the end, which requires a third-party utility such as minitool partition manager.
You usually create the windows after installing the recovery partition, then install the operating system. A backup drive can also be added for data storage.
It has been at the end for a long time. The EFI partition is at the beginning.
Clicking the recovery partition usually provides a restore option. I’m sure you’ve tried that before and it didn’t work, causing your disk to become corrupted.
I noted that Minitool seems to struggle with virtual disks, possibly due to their size or dynamic allocation. I attempted to use it but it didn’t start and showed an error.
