I'm having issues with my main laptop and server connected via the 1Gig switch. The laptop loses internet connection when the server is off, but comes back when I power it on or disconnect the server.

The laptop relies on the server's IP address to connect to the internet. That seems to be my conclusion.

The devices are linked through physical cables or wireless links. A visual aid would clarify the setup. Yes, this server likely serves as a central point for routing traffic across the network.

The second question asks for a rephrased version of the content, maintaining the original meaning while altering the structure and word choice.

Doesn’t this belong to your setup? Is the primary machine’s network card set up with any address details needed by the server? And what purpose does the server serve?
