Hello, I recently set up my gaming PC and have been facing issues with Windows installation via USB. Despite trying various solutions—different USB drives, adjusting BIOS settings, verifying all hardware and reformatting the drive—I still encounter freezing or restarting during the file setup phase, consistently receiving the same error code X8. It’s possible there’s a hardware problem or I missed something. Any advice would be really helpful. Karl.

Test one RAM stick on the board and observe the outcome.

Choose between UEFI or legacy settings. Open your UEFI configuration and activate the feature labeled similar to Windows 10 WHQL Boot, then restart.

I'll attempt this again later and let you know the outcome. I've verified the BIOS and both RAM modules are functioning correctly, reading properly at the expected speeds. It seems like the issue might be minor hardware-related and likely simple to fix.

I disabled WHQL to support UEFI and legacy mode. I’ll also attempt to boot using only UEFI to check if that resolves the issue. Appreciate your feedback.

You don’t require old booting methods with the parts you have. UEFI is quicker and safer.

I've tested your solution and it confirmed your instinct! One stick would suffice if my 8GB kit failed, and Windows installed smoothly afterward. Until my extra RAM arrives, I'll be operating on just 4GB. Thank you for your feedback—I've been struggling to simplify this issue for days.

It seems you're attempting to set up a 32-bit version of Windows 10, which can only handle up to 4GB RAM. In contrast, the 64-bit edition accommodates much larger memory capacities, such as 128GB or 512GB.
