Last week, while using my laptop, some keys stopped working properly. About one in four didn’t respond, but they worked when pressed very hard. After restarting, they functioned again. Nowadays, more keys are unresponsive, and after several restarts, the issue persists. What should I do? Is it a software or hardware issue?
It looks like a hardware issue might be the cause, but restarting it resolved it. This suggests it’s more likely a physical component problem rather than a software glitch. Since you mentioned an older laptop with similar issues, that could explain why software fixes didn’t help.
Shut it down completely, disconnect it if the battery can be removed, keep pressing the power button for half a minute. Then flip it over and press the keys, allowing any debris inside to drop out. If the issue continues, contact the warranty support.
