I assembled a fresh PC and discovered the initial motherboard (Z690-F) was faulty. I sent it back and purchased a replacement (Z790-F gaming Wi-Fi), but the issues persisted. It turns out the A1 and A2 slots don’t work properly—inserting RAM causes the system to fail to boot. Placing the GPU in the PCIe Gen5 slot works, but the GPU isn’t recognized. How can I resolve this? Should I consider returning the motherboard again?

Identify mounting stress on the CPU. Look for bent pins. The simplest method to detect pressure-related problems is to take out the entire CPU cooler and insert rams into the non-functional slots, then inspect the posts. A visual inspection of bent pins is a quick way to spot damage. I believe if you force the CPU cooler beyond its limits, there’s a high likelihood the CPU socket or board traces have been compromised.

I'm wondering if the CPU might be dead on the A channel if both A1 and A2 slots fail on two different boards. I'd likely send the board back together with the CPU replacement at once, since Asus' quality control has been inconsistent lately—having two bad boards in a row wouldn't come as a surprise, but getting a new part would still make sense.

Oh true, ok I'll check this! Might be the pressure of the cpu cooler, I'm using arctic liquid freeze 240(from my last build) And there was 2 sets of mounting pins in the box, unfortunately between the time I built that pc and this one I lost the box with the other mounting pins so I used the old ones again. I do also have a new corsair Icue H150i on the way, which should come equipped with the correct mounting pins. The cpu is fine I did inspect that already, everything was new out the box, and cpu went in first go. I can get the pc to post just have to put ram in dimm B1 and B2 and gpu in gen4 socket.

You were correct about the increasing pressure, my vision only showed 13mm instead of 14mm. I changed the settings and now everything is functioning properly—PCIe Gen5 is active too. Really appreciated your assistance! It really eased a lot of stress.

What type of RAM are you employing? Have you confirmed XMP is activated? I've noticed several discussions about challenges when submitting content with multiple modules.
