My gaming PC isn't particularly impressive by today’s standards:

CPU - Intel Core i7 4850HQ @ 2.30GHz
GPU - Nvidia Geforce 2GB GT 750m
RAM - 16.0 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz

It’s a Mac running Windows 10 through Bootcamp, and that’s the problem. For instance, I used to play graphically intensive games – requiring a minimum Nvidia GTX 640 – without any issues, but now something significantly problematic is occurring. Consider Far Cry 4: Previously, it ran flawlessly with consistent performance and stable temperatures, but now I’m experiencing this: The processor and graphics card consistently reach the upper 70s, occasionally approaching 80 degrees Celsius, yet the game remains smooth. After approximately five minutes of gameplay, both components rapidly drop to lower 70s, resulting in noticeable stuttering and a substantial decrease in frames per second. Why is this happening? Is there any method to maintain a consistent processing and graphics card temperature without these frustrating fluctuations? I’m quite frustrated with this situation; however, I recognize my hardware is aging, and this behavior wasn't present previously.

I’m encountering a similar problem when utilizing upgraded hardware. It's likely due to the memory – specifically, my current dd3 800mhz module. I’m considering upgrading to ddr4, but that would necessitate a new motherboard and processor.
This particular Kingston memory kit appears to be suitable.

Memory might be the root cause, as it supplies data to the processor and potentially the processor’s speed is exceeding that of the memory, resulting in a reduction in performance for the graphics card as well.

Thank you for your response; I will take my computer to the relevant technician. However, I suspect this issue is connected to excessive heat from the processor and graphics card, as the game maintains impressive frame rates at temperatures of 70 degrees and between 86 and 90 degrees, before the temperature decreases and performance suffers with stuttering. It appears to be a clear indicator of thermal throttling.

I believe the initial step should involve inspecting the fans, applying fresh thermal paste, and so on. It certainly appears to be a problem stemming from overheating.
