Otherwise, FG requires additional VRAM, which means it can sometimes work less efficiently compared to using it without FG.

What do you think about the suggested CPU for RT overdrive? I’m considering a build with an R5 7600 and an RTX 4080, but the recommendation for an R9 7900X made me wonder if upgrading to a better CPU would be wise. Just starting out, by the way!

They seem uncertain about CPU suggestions. It might be that they assume increasing the number just makes things bigger as resolution rises. Usually, the more demanding the GPU becomes, the smaller the impact of CPU limitations will be. You probably won’t notice much difference compared to the 7900X in Cyberpunk at 4K.

If possible, wait until Phantom Liberty is fully released and gets solid testing and community feedback. I enjoy Cybepunk 2077, but it seems to be optimized only for certain setups. Many fans say it works well on powerful machines, while others—like me with a GTX 1080—see a drop in performance after updates. I don’t think they’re intentionally targeting older hardware, but it looks like the newest gear is prioritized over everything else. This feels more like a misguided direction in gaming, especially considering the cost and expected adoption of the hardware they’re targeting.

Observe the benchmarks and typical performance before construction begins. Building a PC based solely on developer expectations isn't advisable. Usually, creators either exaggerate specifications—similar to what CDPR is doing here—or misunderstand the reality by suggesting only the bare minimum. It seems some treat minimum requirements as if they were cheap components tossed together in a waste bin to test basic limits.

If you're planning parts, consider starting with an 8-core CPU and a minimum of 3080 or higher GPU or an AMD equivalent. This setup should help you run games smoothly without worrying about frequent upgrades. Expect around 90 FPS, with higher-end components boosting performance further. Currently, the RTX 4090 is the only GPU offering meaningful gains over older models, and unless your budget allows, avoid cheap GPUs. The ideal balance ensures a gaming PC runs efficiently. Pairing a 4090 with anything less than eight cores will severely limit its potential, regardless of the GPU. Don’t overlook the importance of matching components for optimal results.
