Recently, a German hardware supplier began releasing BIOS updates for various AM4 motherboards. Initially they only provided Beta versions, but now official 1.0.0.4B ABBA is available before some sites have published it. Several users have reported instability and problems with XMP profiles on their RAM. I experienced similar issues with ASRock's 3.85 setup and decided to test Ryzen Master to investigate further. While I noticed higher CPU core voltages, the main concern was a VDDCR SOC of 1.2V, which might be contributing to the RAM problems. I reverted back to 1.0.0.3 ABB (ASRock 3.60 for many B450 boards) and avoided lowering the SOC further. I’m sharing this because some people believe a VDDCR of 1.2V could be acceptable, but others warn it might exceed safe limits for Ryzen 3000 chips (referencing recommendations from Der8auer). If you install any of these new BIOS and encounter issues, check if the SOC setting is the cause. I’m currently using Micron E-die Ripjaw 3600 C16 RAM, but many have reported RAM instability after updating BIOS from that source. I won’t link it now due to these concerns, hoping ASRock improves their release before labeling it unstable. In my experience, version 1.0.0.4 was stable enough to add ~100-150MHz, but the trade-off wasn’t worth the crashes—especially since I couldn’t finish any benchmarks without a crash (Kernel-Power ID 41). I’m leaning toward reinstalling and manually adjusting the SOC, but I’ll wait for more feedback before making changes.

However, cheaper boards, like those mentioned in the video you referenced, sometimes experience voltage fluctuations outside the expected range, which may lead to problems. There are reports of similar issues on forums, and it seems some users have encountered the same problem. I haven’t confirmed it’s solely a SOC voltage issue, but it could be related. I removed the chip after my third crash during a benchmark because I wasn’t sure about the risks. If ASRock releases the exact BIOS version without changes soon, more people might share their experiences. This might point to instability with these BIOS versions rather than just the SOC itself, especially if they’re from German vendors.
