Catalyst doesn't set my CPU to 2800 MHz
So I have some heat issues when playing games with FX-8350 on a asus m5a78l so I have to under clock it a little. Idealy I would like to clock to 2800MHz but whenever I do that CPU-Z tells me it's only running at 2100MHz. This also noticable in game, as it's not running as well as when I had previously successfully clocked my cpu to 2800. After a restart of my machine it started clocking it 2100 if I set to 2800, all the other values for clocking work just fine. I've tried using amd overdrive, whle that will clock to what I want, for some reason the heat production goes way up if I do it that way.
P.S. I haven't played around with any voltages.
P.P.S If i use the bios, the effect is similar to overdrive but instead of fluctuating the clock stays at a constant 2800MHz
Update: Meanwhile I've tried uninstalling anything that I had used to alter clock speeds, and tried setting clock speeds with bios again, no change.
Instead of focusing on slowing down your processor, consider investing in better cooling to manage the heat (as this chip tends to get hot). I'm searching for a solution since adjusting clock speeds constantly is frustrating. It seems the issue might be related to cooling rather than your motherboard or CPU. Any advice on clocking problems would be appreciated in the meantime?
