Case upgrade
Case upgrade
Hello,
I'm considering upgrading to a Lian Li O11DEXL-W - O11 Dynamic EVO XL Full Tower Gaming Case White - O11DEXL-W US. Just curious if it's worth it to replace my PSU, CPU, and RAM since I might need to dismantle the system. Currently, I have an AMD RYZEN 5 2600 6 core, a B450 Tomahawk Max (MS-7C02), and a Gigabyte RTX 3060 TI.
I think my PSU was originally a 500 W Corsaire Modulor, which I've used for about three builds. I don't recall my RAM except that it's around 16GB. I'm fine running any games I want, and the system is mainly for gaming. As long as it's within a reasonable budget, I think upgrading could be a good idea.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
your setup is still running smoothly on the AM4 platform, now transitioning to the AM5 with the 7000 series Ryzen chips.
there’s still plenty of solid performance from the AM4 units, and I’m currently using a 5900x without any immediate need for an upgrade for at least a few years.
just keep in mind that if you’re satisfied with your current configuration, it makes sense to plan for a full upgrade with DDR5 RAM and whatever comes next.
you’re not likely someone who wants to constantly chase the newest technology, especially since you’re still using a 2600 cpu.
but for the sake of being a devil’s advocate, the 5000 series chips are very affordable right now.
if you stick with one and keep it for a while, it could actually be a good deal.
i moved from a 3600x to a 5900x and can easily tell...
Need the precise PSU details for a suggestion. Only Corsairs rated at exactly 500W are notably outdated and low quality, except the Vengeance 500 which was decent back then. Help would be appreciated with the country and real budget. Your "reasonable money" standards might differ from others'.
The CPU is correct, but the details about the power supply brand and model are missing from the provided context.
to me if the system still does what you want it to do, then spending money is a waste overall. especially considering you would be upgrading the cpu on a dead platform. don't get me wrong from a 2600 to something like a 5600 would be a noticeable jump in performance. but if what you have now keeps you happy, then why bother.
i'd go with a nice new psu just out of principal if it is rather old and then be done for now.
sit on some cash and save for a true upgrade in a year or so when you truly need something new. then you can move to whatever the new platform is out at the time.
The title mentions case, the text focuses on CPU, RAM, and PSU. You're asking about changes and their reasons.
