Case Open! Case Closed!
Case Open! Case Closed!
Not sure where to post this, but here it goes:
I was wondering if anyone else runs there PC with one of the panels off of the case? I know it isn't a good idea, but my room is upstairs and sometimes it gets pretty warm. Opening the case cools the core temp off by about 10C normally. So, I have a bad habit of running it without the side panel on. I just have to clean it out often
Has anyone else formed this bad habit?
i do it with both of my servers and my gaming computer(s), and it dropped my temps. but then again, i have virtually no dust in my apartment. i just like to admire the inside the computers when i walk by.
I did it earlier when I had a case involving a side fan. That’s why I didn’t feel the need to do it again now.
I keep leaving the case open, which causes the CPU temperature to drop but also raises the system temperature by about 5 degrees. Since my room is very hot, I place a side fan near the case, which really helps. My temperatures have decreased by around 8 degrees for both the CPU and system.
The debate about needing a cooler computer is ongoing. If your cores stay at 40 °C or 50 °C, it's not a big concern. The same goes for the Radeon 4870 at 80 °C—it works just fine. I even took out a case fan to keep things quiet; the temperature rose by about 5 °C, but everything remains well within safe limits.
i used a pc for six years with the side open, specifically a piii 800mhz slot 1. i installed an exhaust fan on top, which kept temperatures at 24ºc. i didn’t worry about overheating, but had to clean it frequently.
everyone -->antec 900.... you can once more keep your cases closed.
