CARS project or Assetto Corsa gamepad option
CARS project or Assetto Corsa gamepad option
I've been enjoying Gran Turismo 4 and am searching for a more current option with mod support. Some racing enthusiasts suggest either of these titles, though both have their pros and cons. I appreciate the modding aspect in Assetto but find it challenging to use with a controller compared to games built specifically for it like Project CARS. Other suggestions are also welcome.
It seems completely unclear what the OP is focusing on or the subject matter. My suggestion is something involving modifying a gamepad—even if it’s a bit unusual. Edit: corrected again—still no understanding.
I’m confident I can play Project Cars using the keyboard, so it should function well with a controller as well. Regarding the AC, I’m not sure—I hope you meant something else.
Project Cars seems overly sensitive unless you adjust the settings, and I really don’t understand Assetto Corsa.
the setup feels tough to master, even when using a controller. there are plenty of options to adjust, but it never quite clicks. i invested more time than necessary trying to make it work, yet it still doesn't feel right. this game relies heavily on precise wheel and pedal settings, which can be frustrating. pcars is a bit smoother, though it's known for inconsistent controller responses. overall, it gives a lukewarm experience.
Other suggestions for that situation? Forza Horizon seems appealing, but it’s way beyond what I can afford. Plus, the download process on my laptop was tricky, and moving it to the desktop was complicated—especially with limited home internet.
Forza Horizon 3 performs well with controllers, no major issues expected. Few racing games match its quality, though there aren't many like it. Test Drive Unlimited 2 exists but the Steam version seems faulty. GRID titles are solid, while GRID Autosport is a bit more challenging for Forza 6. Apex is free and plays reasonably with controllers.
I’ve experienced issues with Apex due to high system demands—RAM, CPU, and VRAM usage spike, leading to occasional stutters. Windows 10 apps also struggle when moving them between PCs via flash drive. It seems my options are limited. Should I continue using the PS2 for Gran Turismo and redirect this Steam gift card to another title?
there are several other titles worth exploring (they’re all available on steam). fuel offers an extensive map, though the experience feels quite unengaging—especially solo play. nfs hot pursuit and nfs most wanted 2012 are solid classics, while 3 and total insanity don’t stand out much. ultimate carnage is essentially a remake of flatout 2, called burnout paradise. it’s probably too early to predict what fans will think. redout enhanced edition is a notable release. in short, wipeout is mad max—more about cars than racing, but the graphics are impressive. dirt games generally handle controls well; dirt rally is tough on controllers, though handling mode helps. sim mode remains manageable. overall, it’s not a perfect fit for controller use, but they’re compatible enough.
