Well, Capcom finally says Resident Evil 4 Remake is coming after announcing it at Sony's State of Play event in June 2022. To show us off the news, they posted a trailer with some cool cutscenes and gameplay clips right here for you. The new game will use the RE Engine and plans to hit shelves on March 24th, 2023. It has been a long time since rumors about this remake started, but now it is actually out there on PlayStation's State of Play event. The Resident Evil series often switches between action and horror themes, so when we talk about the original game, it was all about action and definitely the best of both worlds at the time. It got great praise from fans and critics back then, making it one of the top horror games ever made as well as a top overall title. When it comes to details about the remake, Capcom isn't giving much info right now. We know they will tweak gameplay and story a little bit when they do remakes, but for Resident Evil 4, it seems less likely because people said only part of the game would change due to disagreements inside the team. In a blog post on PlayStation, Capcom explained that this new version Resi 4 will feel familiar to old fans but have a fresh vibe too. They are rethinking the story while keeping the main direction, improving graphics and making controls modern so people can use them easily. Capcom also said they released it on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S consoles. We don't know exactly how much of the original plot will change for this version, but old rumors suggested the story would get even darker. With this remake, Capcom hopes Resident Evil 4 will be back in business and fight equal to the newest horror games. I didn't really get surprised seeing this one because it's been way too long to expect it. It felt more like a teaser than a full trailer, especially since most of the video just shows loading screens and ending screens. I do have to say though, the Spanish music in the opening was a nice touch.

I just found out some new info about RE8 and RE: VILLAGE's difficulty level, but you need to know this if you already beat the full game. I had to quit in the middle because it was way too hard and confusing to solve all those puzzles. So now it seems after Hardcore Mode, we have a VILLAGE of SHADOWS mode. I didn't realize that exists before, so I wonder how many RE players have tried this after beating the game once. It looks super challenging based on the features and is only meant for hardcore gamers. The enemies are now even tougher, faster, and smarter. Basically everything has changed here. Checkpoints are further away and there are fewer of them between stages. Late-game bosses appear much earlier than before, their health is dramatically higher, and enemies show up in huge numbers. It's a real challenge that only players who have beaten the game at least once should try.

Yeah, the Village of Shadows does stuff like add minion enemies to some boss fights, like those with Lady D's daughters. Trying to take all that on in tight spots can be a real pain, you just gotta move fast. The part that feels hardest to me is the boss fight with Moreau's swamp monster after draining the swamp. I've seen a few guides and it always takes about 40 minutes or more for that fight. That's making me wonder if I even want to bother playing on Village of Shadows difficulty, let alone make a walkthrough of it. Besides the chance of actually running out of ammo on that fight, if you die, that fight has to be done over again.

Yeah, that VILLAGE of SHADOWS difficulty level is super tough and hard to beat. I'm curious if a lot of RE fans can finish the whole story on this setting without running out of ammo. It feels like you might never get enough bullets in this mode.

Well damn if I was wrong when I found that video. This guy beat Moreau around 13 and a half minutes back on Village of Shadows without infinite ammo perks or NG+. The exploit he used to corner the beast in a spot you can get stuck there I've seen before, but never tried this way. So maybe I will try it after all.

That video has some cool stuff about how hard this boss is to beat. It's a big deal for any player who plays at that level. By the way, when they talk about the "cheese method," what do they mean? Is it just using cheat codes or some other trick in the game?

LOL, no, it's not specific to RE. To "Cheese" an enemy in a game just means you are exploiting quirks in the programming of said game. The quirk here is obvious: that monster tends to easily get stuck in those cabin corners with a post supporting the corner of the roof overhang. The Varcolac near the watermill is also easily cheesed by luring it onto the roof of the nearby house, then using its chimney right next to the edge of the roof as an impassable barrier while you pop it in the head with the pistol. Cheeses aren't always 100% foolproof though. As you can see, the Moreau beast eventually frees itself, and I also had the Varcolac circle around the other side of the chimney after I thought I had it permanently lured into the kill zone.
