It hasn't found any other game but now that I started Mechwarrior 5, I notice some capacitor squealing. It's not too bad, but still bothersome. For the sake of it, my old 650 psu and RX 5600 xt didn't face this issue at medium settings. I was using a 27" monitor with 60 hz, now switching to a 32" one at 240 hz. Changing graphics settings on the new gear doesn't seem to help, and lowering the refresh rate from 240 to 60 hz also doesn't make a difference. Is this something I should fix to avoid damage or is it okay?

The PSU is quite old. I imagine you'd test it by imagining holding a sheet of A4 paper and listening for the noise. Regarding the GPU change, did you uninstall your previous drivers before installing the new one, using an elevated command to reinstall the latest driver?

Purchased it back in November
I wasn’t sure about coil whine until I began searching for information an hour ago. I’m okay with it as long as it isn’t causing harm, but I’d like to eliminate that possibility first.

The previous model was an Evga supernova. I only changed the drivers by updating them in the Linux terminal.

Does the PSU use a 12v single rail configuration or a 12v multi-rail setup? How many distinct power cables are required to connect the PSU to the GPU?

I'm not sure if it's single or multiple. There's no toggle switch.
Three separate 8 pin cables from the PSU to GPU

I'm sorry, but I don't know if you have the HX850i or if the switch is on the modular board of the PSU.

Noise from capacitors and coil whine both result from physical movement or vibration that produces sound. Ceramic capacitors buzzing at high frequencies usually don’t harm anything but can irritate pets like dogs and cats. Coil whine, on the other hand, can vibrate at low frequencies enough to lead to metal fatigue and damaged solder joints. The main factor is choosing the right coil for the load, and simply applying heat-resistant glue to the problematic coil only offers a temporary fix.

No, I received this exact listing from newegg in November.
Are you considering a switch to multi-rail settings? Once again, the same card doesn't encounter this issue with other games that have similar or even higher graphics requirements. It also begins immediately after the game loads, without much change during intense rendering phases. It becomes more apparent in frequency shifts between menus, sometimes even pausing when gameplay starts. Perhaps it's not the GPU? Could an in-game setting require adjustment?

I can tolerate the noise as long as it doesn't end up damaging my GPU or causing a fire.
