Can't turn it on during a power-off, and it doesn't start up when you turn it back on.
Hello everyone, I just built a new system and every time about an hour or more passes after I shut the PC down before turning it back on, I find a Critical Event in event viewer saying "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first." I also notice this critical error is always paired with another Error Event that says "Windows failed fast startup..." I have to say I didn't see any problems while using the computer and I'm not even seeing these "crashes" when it's cold. I've just been checking event viewer to look for issues instead of noticing them during use. I am on the latest BIOS with a freshly installed Windows 11 that has all updates applied. I already tried running sfc /scannow and the dism command to fix any problems in windows, but the problem still keeps happening. Do you have any ideas about what might be causing this? Should I just turn off fast startup? Welcome to the forums! You have a new Windows 11 system with all updates applied. Did you copy the USB installer for your OS so there is no corruption? Did you install the OS in offline mode and then run all drivers as Administrator later, like right-clicking the installer and selecting Run as Administrator? Which RAM slots are they using on your motherboard? How are you cooling your processor?
I haven't tried reinstalling Windows completely because I need this machine for my work every day, so I don't have time for a lot of downtime during the week. The RAM sticks are in slots 2 and 4. The processor is cooled by a DeepCool AK620 fan, and the temperatures stay okay; they never hit over 75 degrees Celsius, even when it's hot under load. The processor speeds up and slow down normally as needed. I don't have any problems using it for work or playing games; there are no crashes. After shutting it down and waiting one hour or more, when I turn it back on, two errors show up in the Event Viewer. If I shut it off right away and turn it on again, those errors disappear. So far, my best guess is to disable "Fast Startup" in Windows to see if that fixes things. I still want to find out what's causing this issue but also need to know if disabling Fast Startup will help me solve the problem.
The computer was turned off about an hour ago. It didn't show up with new problems in the Event Viewer when I turned it back on. Let's wait and see if this happens again tomorrow just to check that it works as intended. UPDATE: The PC started working fine even after sitting off for over 8 hours. So turning off fast startup is a good idea to fix this problem.
