Hey, I just bought some new computer parts and tried to set my RAM to 3200MHz. But when I turn on the XMP profile in my BIOS, it doesn't work and keeps me at the old speed of 2133MHz instead. I've already updated my BIOS and the motherboard, and even changed the frequency from Auto using XMP to 3200. Yet, when I try to start up my PC, it says that the RAM config failed. On the computer manufacturer's page, the RAM isn't listed as compatible, but on the RAM maker's page, the motherboard is. Could you please help me with this? Here are my specs: an AMD Ryzen 3700x from MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk, paired with Gskill Trident Z RGB RAM (2 x 16GB) for DDR4-3200 speed, which has CL16 and a dual-channel setup.

Hey, are those in slots 2 and 4 as you expect? If so, try setting the command rate to 2 after doing the XMP. If they aren't in there yet or if your timings look off, maybe swap out the RAM for a GTZRX kit made specifically for AMD. Check that link: https://www.gskill.com/search?keywords=f...16d-16gtzr

Yes I checked the MSI Dragon Center and they are in Slot A2 or Slot B2. I changed my command rate to 2, but the frequency stayed at 2133MHz. I tried different frequencies and the highest one before it won't start is 2666MHz. I didn't want to use AMD RAM because I found this one for only $112.

Hey, is the Memory Try It feature turned off when you turn down your RAM speed?

Is fast boot turned on? If yes, stop it because that stops all memory training. Switch it off if you need to do that.

I changed my RAM speed exactly what was written on the package. I didn't try to make it run faster than that. It's set to 3000MHz, which is all I need. That's enough now.

It might be about the voltage. Most boards set RAM voltage down to 1.2v. But at speeds of 2933 or higher, you probably need to change it up to 1.35v on your own.

I see this picture of my BIOS memory settings here: https://imgur.com/a/ei728KT. The RAM Try It option is turned off in the BIOS. I don't have a fast boot choice, but it is off in Windows too. I set the voltage to 1.35v, yet I still get an "Overclocking fail" message when I turn on my PC. If I manually change it to 3200MHz, it won't work even with auto mode using the XMP profile because it only boots at 2133MHz
