Hi, I tried putting my i7 9700k overclocking and then stopped when the heat got too high. I reset all the settings in BIOS, but the temps are still higher than before and they keep jumping around wildly on Core Temp (between a 4634MHz frequency and something between .8-3000MHz). It's also showing up in my Task Manager with temps going from 30c to 40c which was not happening before. I just want to reset my CPU to factory settings and get rid of the overclock so someone can help me figure out how to do this. Someone told me to turn off multi core enhancement but I can't find it on my MSI MPG z390 Gaming Edge AC Motherboard.

When turbo boost comes on, the speed goes back and forth between what you normally do and the maximum speed. It eventually finds a spot that's okay if you aren't really moving.

If you take out the power cord from the computer and also pull out the small battery chip from inside the board, then keep pressing that big power button for about 45 seconds straight, everything stored in the BIOS settings will go away and reset.

No worries at all! Just kidding if you don't. Do I really have to put that little battery inside right before I hit the power button down and keep holding it there?

Yes, remove the battery while you hold down the power button. After that, snap the battery back in and press the power again.

Hey, I tried it today but nothing worked. The task manager keeps showing my CPU going way too fast, hitting speeds up to 4.6GHz.

Basically, Turbo is turned on by default and it stops at 4.9 GHz.

Does that mean it has a specific speed boost feature like Intel's Turbo Boost?

If you turn on turbo, it changes speed back and forth between what you set normally and the higher turbo setting. It ends up picking a middle spot when you aren't moving at all.
