Can't remove the CPU cooler from the CPU.
The temperatures aren’t good on my Ryzen 5 3600 when under load. I decided to change the thermal paste. I removed all the screws for the CPU cooler, which came off easily. After taking it away, I couldn’t remove the cooler from the CPU. I checked with a flashlight and saw all the screws loose, but the cooler still stuck. Could it be that the thermal paste has fused the CPU and cooler together? If so, how can I safely take the cooler off without damaging anything?
It didn’t actually connect anything properly. That’s unusual for thermal paste. It probably just sticks very firmly, which is common. Turn the cooler clockwise and counter-clockwise a few times until you notice it loosening slightly, then remove it. Just gently move it—not force it into sharp 90° angles.
You're asking if the dark appearance of the aluminum thermal pad is normal after cleaning your CPU. It's common for the pad to look slightly darker initially, especially if it was previously dirty or damaged. Using more alcohol pads can help ensure a thorough clean and improve adhesion.
