Can't overclock someone help!
Hi, I have an i7 6700k processor, 32gb ddr4 3000mhz ram and an asus z170 pro gaming motherboard.
I've been trying for hours but can't overclock it. When I put the system in xmp mode then save and quit it goes to a black screen and windows doesn't boot.
New to overclocking probably an easy fix, thanks anyway!

My motherboard supports that speed, so it should work. Just need to change to XMP profile 1 in BIOS.
That was my plan, but whenever I try it it keeps failing.

Are you overclocking your CPU when using XMP profile 1? I'm considering switching to a stock profile to check if it boots. If it doesn't, running MEMTEST86 on the memory might help. I've also tried it in stock, but it still doesn't post—probably needs a memtest. I heard my CPU might not handle memory overclocking beyond 3000mhz, only up to 2400 for some models.
