Can't Overclock my i5 7600K?
Initially, I have an ASUS Strix Z270F Gaming motherboard. When I open BIOS, I can turn on XMP, which is normally off by default. I already enabled it, but the issue arises when I try to adjust my CPU frequency from 3.8 base clock to 4.2GHz. I selected "Sync All Cores" so all four cores run at 4.2GHz, yet after saving and applying those settings, XMP remains active and my i5 7600K still stays at 3.8GHz Base clock. I need some guidance since this is my first PC build and I just completed it yesterday. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
It's sitting at 3.8 in idle or load? Typically there is a lower range, like 8 for me, which is the minimum the CPU clock will go down to in idle. I just completed an OC on an OC7600k on an MSI and all I did was adjust the multiplier and voltage. I own a Z97 Expert with a G3258 and the same approach for overclocking. Are you certain you're saving with F10?
