Hi all
Looking back at you after a long day of work.
I assembled a new PC using my old hard drives. It comes with an MSI M5 Z170-A motherboard, a Nvidia 3060 GPU, an Intel i7 6700 CPU, and my RAM is NETAC DDR4 3200.
Despite my efforts, I can't increase the speed beyond 2333.
I've tried resetting the BIOS and adjusting settings, but it still fails to apply the changes.
It also doesn't respond when I try XMP or manually set the correct speed.
Then it boots up and says the overclock failed, returning to default.
What have I missed?

I might feel a bit concerned since it seems like you aren't managing what you're expected to do.

It might be worth checking if the NETAC brand works well with your MSI mobo above 2333mhz. Have you got any other DDR4 3200 options to try? That's just a guess.

I don't have any additional sticks for testing, that's a surprise!

Is your RAM a two-stick matched set? Unmatched RAM might not function properly.
Have you adjusted the speed in any way?
If yes, adjust the RAM speed using XMP first.
On older chipset models, there may be compatibility issues.
Would you like to share a CPU-Z report showing the speed and memory settings?
You can manually set speeds and consider raising the RAM voltage slightly above what XMP recommends for 3200 MHz.
Don’t stress too much about RAM speed—except for integrated graphics, the actual performance difference is minimal.
Just a few percentage points are enough.

They're paired, right? Do you think I shouldn't be concerned about the difference between 2333 and 3200 then? I'll have to submit it soon but will receive the report once I'm back home.

I might feel a bit concerned just because you don’t seem to be able to do what you should.

Thought.....the matched and matched kit are two distinct items.

This refers to a single kit containing two sticks from the same package. Two distinct part numbers do not qualify as a match. The components inside may vary, including internal mechanisms and chips.

They arrived together in the same package, so I’m hoping they’re a pair!
Apologies, I haven’t returned to this discussion. I ran out of time over the weekend to sort things out.
