I purchased the inexpensive Hyjinx 3600 Ripjaws V. The 60 dollar model features CL18, while the 70 dollar version has CL16. While overclocking my RAM to 1.4 volts worked, I was able to lower it to CL16. Attempting to reach CL15 caused it to appear in BIOS, but when I ran CPU-Z it still showed CL16. P.S.—I adjusted the voltage to rule out a power issue.

Is there any inquiry here or are you merely stating this? This is simply standard overclocking talk, as most Hynix RAM packages struggle with boosting on budget GSKILL boards.

I understand you're asking about why your CAS latency can't exceed 16. Let me clarify what that means and how to address it.

It's inexpensive, yet since it's low cost, does that imply overclocking significantly raises the risk of damaging the memory chip?

Theres a reason it was listed at CL 18, Its more then likely at its limits. Lower end kits tend to be limited in their ability

It won't fry; it often fails and leads to BSODs or other crashes.

I understand, I’ll push it to its limits until it becomes unstable.

You're using a Ryzen processor? The low clock speeds in this setting can help improve stability.

Adjust RAM settings and update timing values to even numbers. Refer to the motherboard manual to find its BIOS location.
