Can't locate any solution online for my 7700k overclocking issue!
Hey guys, I'm really struggling with this!
I've been working on changing my i7 7700k for months, but I still can't figure out what's wrong or how to fix it.
My motherboard is an ASUS Prime H270M plus, and I've got the newest BIOS update.
Whenever I try to adjust the core ratio to 50 or higher, it always resets back to 45.
It doesn't matter what I do—turbo mode on/off, speedstep settings, syncing cores or per-core adjustments—I still can't get it to work in Windows.
Even though the voltage changes, the issue remains.
I've watched this short video that shows the problem: [video link]
The H270 does not allow complete overclocking. Only the Z170 and Z270 models support this feature. On non-Z boards, the maximum you can achieve is setting the CPU to its highest turbo boost.

Yep, H-series motherboards aren't ideal for overclocking; except occasionally and often fixed by a BIOS update. For example, the i7-7700K performs just as well at 4.5GHz as it does at 5.0GHz. I owned one for more than a year and spent a lot of money trying to reach 5.0GHz, but the performance gain was minimal. *I own an Asus H170 Pro Gaming and it supports RAM overclocking up to 2400 and 2666, but CPU overclocking isn't available; I haven't attempted it myself, though I suspect it's not possible.* RAM overclocking is uncommon on H-boards, especially CPU overclocking.
