Maybe I overlooked something here. I chose to completely reset my laptop and start fresh because of the poor battery performance and unnecessary bloat in the Asus Rog ZM16 (I7 11800H & 3050 TI). At most, I managed about four hours with the laptop running at 1 GHz and Intel graphics. The machine is relatively new and has only been used for college assignments and Cisco simulations.

I attempted the built-in reset in Windows settings, but it didn’t work and I was directed to use the Windows Media option. That tried, but the drives didn’t appear, diskpart also failed to show them. Eventually, I removed the drives and installed them in a desktop environment, where Windows 11 worked perfectly. When I brought them back, the system displayed a BSOD with the message 'inaccessible boot device'. The laptop doesn’t have BitLocker or any device encryption, and it has very limited BIOS settings.

Any suggestions on what might be missing or incorrect?

do you have the Intel VMD controller activated in the bios?
if yes, you could disable it to view your drives in the bios.
if you're using an Intel VMD controller, the bios must support it. (for instances where the bios hasn't been updated)
BIOS – VMDVROC_1.efi and VMDVROC_2.efi – incorporated into the UEFI BIOS
(updated march 2023)

Setting up the OS on a different platform and transferring it to another is often problematic. I recommend creating a bootable USB installer for your OS and configuring it as the main boot device on your laptop. Be sure to identify the correct drive for installation, as that will be the only one connected.

Thank you for your message. I've tried again two more times, but the drive still doesn't show up in the Windows install tool as the primary option. It shows up in the BIOs instead.

The only error you made was allowing Window to fully install on another machine.
I did the same, but during the installation of Windows the process stopped when it reached the restart stage and displayed "You window will restart in 10-9-8-7-6".
At that point, shut down the power, remove the drive, and reinstall it on the correct device. The reason was that it hadn’t linked to the wrong hardware until the reboot occurred.
Once the SSD was placed back into the right machine and the power was turned on, the installation would complete.
Don’t connect the USB with the Windows installer.
I’m not sure if your laptop requires special drivers for the host controller to read the SSD, but when you force-fit it on another computer during installation, the process must be interrupted and reworked at that restart.
