I bought an old PC with Windows 11 that I hate, and the previous owner turned off the security shield. Now I can't restart it because a blocked user stopped me from turning it back on. I tried looking online and running repair commands to fix this, but nothing has worked yet. It is very urgent for me to get the machine working again. Could you please help? Thank you.

I would clean install windows just to give you everything new and no old settings left behind from someone else. Use the download tool here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software.../windows11 to make a file for a USB drive. Follow these steps, they are mostly the same for win 11 - https://forums.

Complete restart of the computer system with a fresh copy of the operating system installed. This is exactly what happens every single time you buy an old laptop or PC that isn't brand new. It's not just clicking "restart"; it's actually deleting everything and putting back the whole system from scratch.

Thanks. Is there an easier way since I messed up my first install and wasted two weeks downloading all those games? I tried connecting my brand-new SSD with Windows 10 on it, using the old drive as a secondary disk, but it brought me to an ASUS BIOS screen where both drives show up, yet neither one is selected for booting.

No, there isn't a simpler way to do this. A clean install handles three main things: 1. It checks if your computer's software license is valid. 2. It cleans up any strange settings like the firewall might look weirdly configured. What else has he touched in there? 3. It erases the memory of every single person who used that machine before you. You have no idea what those past people stored on their systems. And sometimes, you just don't want to know anymore.

That won't likely happen either. It's hard to put an operating system on a brand new computer because the way things are set up there isn't very flexible. Usually, when you try to move your current OS into a fresh machine, it doesn't work well. Windows is pretty strict and not as easy to change like we might hope for it to be.

Okay. I'm going to start over and clear out everything on the computer. How do I make sure the other hard drive is wiped properly? You know, if you just leave both drives plugged in, the computer won't turn on or work right so I need to be careful.

Make sure to start it on your main hard drive at first. Wait until you're comfortable with that before trying anything else.

It has scars from when it was in my house, but it hates when I move things around so much that it feels wrong to see everything stay the same. That's why it stays exactly where you left it and doesn't want anything different happening here.
