I've experimented with PCI-E passthrough and managed to get it working. But along the way, I think I misconfigured my NVIDIA drivers. My 780Ti is still running on Nouveau even though the drivers are installed.

Review the lsmod command output to verify the presence of the 'nvidia' module. If it doesn’t appear, it may be listed in a .conf file at /etc/modprobe.d/.

Newer version might take precedence, which could prevent NVIDIA from loading. You'd need to exclude Newer first.

I've tested it several times. Oddly enough, the NVIDIA 390 driver causes problems, while the 340 version functions smoothly.
