I'm facing a strange problem during my latest build. My Samsung 990 PRO with heatsink isn't fitting into the GIGABYTE B760 GAMING X because the MOBO heatsink doesn't accommodate the SSD by about 1mm. The setup includes an Intel Core I5-13400, GIGABYTE GAMING RTX 4060, MOBO, a Samsung 990 PRO 1TB SSD, and several components listed.

Take it and keep the model without the heatsink. For a cost-effective setup, you wouldn’t invest that much in an SSD.

Mobo heatsink refers to the component placed over the M.2 slot or the CPU heatsink, depending on the specific model and design.

What? Purchased an SSD with a heatsink and expressed frustration that it doesn't fit properly when using the included heatsink from the motherboard. If my motherboard already has a built-in heatsink for the M.2 drive, I would have gone for the 990 Pro without adding one.

Set up the M.2 drive while keeping the heatsink removed from the motherboard. Or swap the SSD for a model that doesn’t have an internal heatsink.

The issue lies with the M.2 SSD installation due to the MOBO heatsink positioned directly above it, and Samsung does not recommend taking off that heatsink from the 990 Pro model.

You can utilize one of your other M.2 slots. Using M2P_SB won't significantly affect performance. The specs indicate dual M.2 connectors supporting PCIe 4.0 SSDs.
