Hello, I'm just starting out with PCs. I bought a new machine with an AMD A10 7850K quad-core processor and Corsair Pro Vengeance 8GB 2400MHz RAM (2x4GB) from a 550W PSU. My issue is that in CPU-Z my base frequency is around 1796.4 MHz, DRAM speed is 668.2 MHz, FSB is 3.20 with a CAS latency of 9 clocks. I need to adjust my RAM speed to reach about 2133 MHz, which seems to be the recommended setting for the A10. Could someone please help me figure this out? Thank you!

It seems you're referring to a value of 2412.4, which is close to 2400. Let me know if you'd like further clarification.

running at 1333, check DRAM speed via CPU-Z memory tab to see frequency, then double it for effective value—about 1333. look in BIOS for XMP settings; if using a GB motherboard, check EOCP, otherwise DOCP on Asus models. enable itr and set to 2133.

You're currently at 1333, checking CPU-Z for DRAM speed. Look at the memory tab for frequency, double it to get the effective value—around 668. If you have a GB mobo, check the XMP setting in BIOS (or EOCP/DOCP on Asus models). Enable it and set the value to 2133. Your motherboard is a Gigabyte F2A68HM-HD2 Rev 1.1 with BIOS showing system multiplier at 24.00, memory frequency at 1333 MHz, and 2400 MHz bus speed.

You're at 1333, check the memory tab in CPU-Z for frequency, double it to get the effective speed—say 668, then square it to about 13336 (roughly 1333). Look in the BIOS for XMP settings; if your GPU is a GB board, it might be an EOCP setting, and on Asus boards, it could be DOCP. Enable it and set it to 2133.

Your motherboard may not support the XMP profile or the 2133MHz frequency. Just don't rely too much on this, and I'm not sure if your A68 chipset can handle memory overclocking.

You're currently at 1333. To achieve DRAM speed using CPU-Z, check the memory tab for frequency and double it (1333 x 2 = 2666, effectively 1333). Look in your BIOS for XMP settings—GB motherboards may have EOCP options, while Asus boards might use DOCP. Enable it and set it to 2133.

Your motherboard likely doesn't support the XMP profile or the 2133MHz setting. I'm not sure if the A68 chipset can handle memory overclocking.

According to the specs, your motherboard has a native speed of 2133mhz and cannot be clocked up to 2400mhz. Some sources suggest that the 7850k can run at 2400mhz.

I don't need 2400mhz speed 2133mhz; my APU is now 7850k. Did this reset my BIOS? Is it normal for it to revert to 1333mhz?

My earlier setup was an a6 6400k with 16gb and 1600mhz ram. When checking under cpu-z for specifications, the RAM showed 1600mhz automatically. I didn’t make any changes to achieve that performance.

Various systems, apps, and devices have different defaults; 1600 is the standard setting for Haswell while 1333 applies to AMD configurations.
