Can't execute docp because I increased RAM.
hardware: asus x670e-e 7950x CORSAIR Vengeance DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL30 Intel XMP iCUE compatible computer memory - black (CMK32GX5M2B6000C30) I initially used just two sticks with docp enabled and it functioned well. It took a bit longer to load but always worked after posting. After that, I added more sticks tonight. The system won’t start if docp is active. I’ve adjusted settings and changed the speed manually, but it freezes when trying to open Windows. What’s happening and how can I fix it?
Profile configured for two sticks. Adjust primary memory settings, DRAM voltage and speed via BIOS. BIOS values: timings 30-36-36-36-76, DRAM voltage 1.4V.
Could this result in any obvious slowdown in performance? I've always heard that using four sticks instead of two is usually better for the same amount of memory.
That suggestion had some validity regarding DDR4 because of the single-rank versus dual-rank distinction (I won’t delve into why that matters, but 4x8GB tended to perform marginally better than 2x16GB under identical conditions). For DDR5, however, those differences are minimal and unlikely to impact results much. Moreover, even if they did, 2x32GB configurations are expected to remain dual-rank for the foreseeable future, ensuring consistent performance similar to 4x16GB while offering simpler setup at higher memory rates.
Adjusting the timing and speed manually helped, but it might not be ideal. Consider using a higher voltage of 1.45V instead.
I didn’t do it. They’re still inside the Amazon return period, so I’m sending back and placing a new order for two 32GB sticks because that seems simpler. Thanks for the tip!
