RAM: 8gb
Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212

I've been following a guide closely and reached the latest stable at 4.2ghz @ 1.32 voltage. When testing at 4.4ghz, I encountered freezing in prime95 small ftp. I tried running it at 1.32, 1.35, and 1.37, but the longest stable run was around a minute at 1.37, though freezing still occurred.
Now I'm unsure whether to halt or increase the voltage by 1-3 points. At the last stable clock, my CPU temperature stayed below 51°C. I followed all the BIOS settings except adjusting the DRAM frequency to 1600MHz (my actual is 1333MHz), so I’m not sure if overclocking is necessary.
The guide is merely a reference. Because every CPU and motherboard differs, you might need to adjust your approach to achieve your overclocking objectives. You could try methods like adding voltage to the CPU NB or boosting your bus speed, though it might not always work if you've hit your maximum.
The guide serves only as a reference. Because CPUs and motherboards vary, you might need to adjust your approach to achieve your overclocking targets. You may have to apply extra voltage to the CPU or boost your bus speed, or it could simply mean you've hit your limit. I initially reset everything to auto and began tracking my voltage; on HWMonitor I saw the voltage spike to 1.4+ occasionally under load, which might explain why 1.3xx isn't working for me. I plan to try 1.38, 1.39, and 1.40 next time. Also, I recall I previously boosted it to 4.4GHz+ with all settings in auto mode, so manual adjustments should be possible now.
Wow, which model is it—212 Plus or 212 Evo? I haven't seen those temperatures before. My Evo never recorded them.

What model are you using? Is it the 212 Plus or the 212 Evo? My Evo never reached those temperatures before. Also, your older unit is likely the issue. If you're hitting those high temps, it's probably time to reapply thermal paste. It seems the air is getting in between the CPU and heatsink. On another note, I increased my voltage and haven't managed to overclock beyond 4.2 on my 8350. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong.
