There's a chance , but like we both stated every chip is different , some do and some don't overclock very well.
Will hope for the best but ill give an update tomorrow when I have the new board.
Also when replacing the current board with a new one are there any steps I should take before I do so ?

Yes, you're correct. I would even if it restarts, as it would be more stable with the appropriate drivers installed.

Well, you can achieve 4.2 at a higher Vcore. Maybe a Z97 chipset built for overclocking could perform even better. It wouldn't hurt. Practically, though, how much more you need 4.2 compared to 4.0 is unclear. Just get what you can now and see if things improve with a 4690K.

Do I really need a clean OS installation or something else?
Thanks for your assistance!
There might be some problems with a new motherboard.
If you can boot up, you probably won’t need a full reinstall.
Just install the drivers that come with your new board.
If not, you might need a complete reinstall.
You could face activation issues if your Windows copy is OEM.
An OEM license is linked to your original motherboard.
Microsoft is usually forgiving on reactivation, as long as you prove you’re not a pirate and the copy isn’t used elsewhere.

Yes you will. I would even if it restarts, as long as the right drivers are installed for better stability. Also, I can back up my games so I don’t have to re-download them.

During a clean install, a new empty registry will be created.
Any programs that relied on the registry will stop working and need to be reinstalled.
I know Steam games have a fix for this, but I’m not familiar with it.

Perform a clean installation, as the chipsets vary. The OS will run more smoothly with the proper drivers and a fresh start.
