You've just spent your budget on a game that slows down during building destruction. Try optimizing settings and checking for updates. Your hardware looks solid—Phenom II 965 BE with strong RAM and a decent GPU should handle the load better. Consider adjusting in-game performance options or using a more efficient game mode if available.

The CPU likely won't manage the demands of demo physics.

It seems the process primarily relies on CPU resources rather than GPU power. They implemented Havok physics, pushing boundaries of what the technology could handle, which may be a built-in constraint. Including collision detection on all remaining fragments post-explosion can heavily strain the CPU. Some elements seem to vanish over time, restoring performance. You might also consider checking for driver updates or making adjustments at the forum link provided.

Did you just laugh a lot? The suggested processor is a dual-core... Back then, when this game launched, quad-core chips were really costly.

I recently completed a run-through of Red Faction: Guerrilla and observed that my overclocked i5-750 struggled briefly during high-intensity moments. This isn't too unexpected given how extreme the game's destruction can be, even by today's standards. It doesn't significantly detract from the overall experience. Your investment was worthwhile.

It seems your CPU matches the performance of an i5 quite closely, especially during setup. That Xbox 360 version you played was pretty close to what people were expecting at launch.

I've needed to run with fewer than 28 frames maximum...
