The display you're seeing shouldn't be restricting the GPU. Just slightly lifting it might help, and the rear IO metal plate could be stuck to something else—something I've experienced before.

I typically rely on a modest yet exceptionally durable wooden component to operate it—personally I wouldn’t opt for metal since I’d worry about losing my grip and potentially harming something.
